Overview

Go to Settings → Business Details (under the Account group) to view and update your core business information. This page is available to business owners, admins, and managers. The page is split into four tabs:
  • Basic information: business name, display name, website, merchant category, and statement description
  • Registered address: your registered business address
  • Contact information: business contact details
  • Tax Details: tax registration information

Basic Information

The Basic information tab shows the following fields: Only fields you change are submitted when you save.

Merchant category (MCC)

Your merchant category is displayed in the Basic Information section. The field shows:
  • The category description, for example “Family Clothing Stores”
  • Your 4-digit MCC (Merchant Category Code), displayed as a badge, for example 5651
The MCC is the industry classification card networks use for your business. It is assigned during account verification based on the nature of your business, and it affects how card schemes categorise your transactions. The field is read-only. If your business activities have changed and you believe your merchant category is incorrect, contact support at [email protected] to request a change. If a HitPay Reseller Partner referred you to HitPay but you signed up without their referral link, you can link them yourself from this page. Below the Basic information fields you will see: “Were you referred to HitPay by a partner?” To link a partner:
  1. Click Link a partner.
  2. Enter the partner’s referral code (a 10-character code, for example WEBS4X2ABC). Ask your partner for their code if you do not have it. Lowercase letters, spaces, and dashes are tolerated.
  3. Review the partner’s name and website on the confirmation step, then click Link partner.
Once linked, the section shows the partner’s name and the date they were linked, for example “Referred by Acme Web Studio · linked on 18 Aug 2026”. Things to know before linking:
  • Linking does not change your fees. The partner earns a commission from HitPay for the referral; nothing is charged to you.
  • The partner does not see your private account information. They only see basic business metadata, such as your business name, and the commission they are entitled to.
  • One partner per business. If your business is already linked to a partner, you cannot link another one.
  • Linking is permanent from the dashboard. To change or remove a linked partner, contact support.
  • Each partner link is recorded in your audit logs.
If the code is not recognised, check it with your partner and try again. Codes only work for approved HitPay partners.

Delete business

The Danger zone section at the bottom of the page lets the business owner permanently delete the business. Once deleted, a business cannot be recovered. See Account Setup for details.
